Euragro had faced with a challenge in Hungary when the country joined the European Unionin 2004. Its activity emphasis was gradually shifted from the production issues towards community and rural development programmes, which had a great influence to the company’s portfolio and performance. While the initial focus was placed on the agricultural production, regional and rural development approach became increasingly dominant. Euragro Rural Development Office has been active to develop Kozard and the micro-regional plans, followed by the LEADER programme for 15 communities.

Euragro’s outstanding role in rural development was acknowledged by professional visits of Agricultural and Rural Development ministers from Denmark, Sweden, Catalonia-Spain, Thailand and the Finance Minister of South Africa. Euragro receives approx. 300 foreign agricultural professional visitors annually from EU countries (Italy, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Lithuania, Denmark, Slovakia, Serbia)
